Israeli Occupation Expands Offensive in Gaza: Strikes Hit East of Khan Younis
July 2, 2024
In a significant escalation of the ongoing genocide, the Israeli occupation forces have expanded operations in Gaza, launching new airstrikes on the eastern parts of Khan Younis. The attacks, which began early this morning, have resulted in multiple casualties and widespread destruction, according to local health officials and eyewitnesses.
Local sources report that residential areas and agricultural lands in the eastern neighborhoods of Khan Younis were among the hardest hit. The Ministry of Health in Gaza stated that many people have been killed, including women and children, and dozens more have been injured. Medical facilities in the area are struggling to cope with the influx of casualties, with many critically wounded.
The escalation follows weeks of invading Rafah and displacing thousands of Palestinians who are looking for safe areas to go with no care from the international community to stop the genocide.
In Khan Younis, residents are grappling with the immediate aftermath of the strikes. “The bombing was relentless,” said a local resident. “We could hear explosions all night. Many homes have been destroyed, and people are afraid to leave their shelters.”
The situation in Gaza remains dire, with humanitarian organizations warning of a potential crisis. The blockade imposed by Israeli occupation has severely restricted the flow of goods and aid into the region, exacerbating the living conditions for the nearly two million residents of Gaza.
